ABOUT THE SPACE

Modern traveling means modern amenities, and we're not sparing any expense for our honored guests (yup, we're talking about you, and your weird friend too, they're cool in their own way).

San Felipe Dormitory

Features (6) beds with (6) lockers - gender mixed

Our most generous room, the San Felipe sleeping quarters, is a gender-neutral space with beds for up to 6 travelers. Each traveler will also be assigned a secure locker to store their belongings.

Bonus Facts: Sharing a namesake with the Castillo San Felipe del Morro, this room was named after Phillip II of Spain. Phillip was King of Spain, Portugal, Naples, Sicily, England, Ireland, Duke of Milan, and lord of the Seventeen Provinces of the Netherlands all at the same time.

This information won't make any difference in how comfortable your bed is (it's already pretty comfortable), but holy sh*t that's a lot of titles to hold at the same time. Most of us would struggle to be Assistant (to) the Regional Manager.

San Cristóbal Dormitory

Features (4) beds with (4) lockers - gender mixed

The San Cristóbal sleeping quarters is a gender-neutral space featuring beds for up to 4 travelers. Each traveler will also be assigned a secure locker to store their belongings.

Bonus Facts: The Castillo San Cristóbal is the most massive fort built by the Spanish in the Americas. Designed to protect against land-based attacks, its 27 acres used to wrap entirely around the island city of San Juan.

This fort is home to the infamous "Garita del Diablo," a guerite that was rumored to be the cause of several disappearances of Spanish soldiers over the years. (Let's be real, it's more likely the soldiers got sick of the terrible working conditions and jumped out the window to drink at the bar down right down the beach. We prefer this explanation, but you go with whatever you want).

Santa Catalina Dormitory

Features (4) beds with (4) lockers - for women only

The Santa Catalina sleeping quarters is a female only space featuring beds for up to 4 travelers. Each traveler will also be assigned a secure locker to store their belongings.

Bonus Facts: La Fortaleza (aka The Fortress) serves as the governor's mansion and also goes by the name Palacio de Santa Catalina (aka Catalina's Palace). The fortress, built between 1533 and 1540, is the oldest executive mansion in continuous use in the Americas. Built to protect the island of San Juan from naval attacks, La Fortaleza was captured twice by invaders over the years (*cue sad piano music*).

Bonus points if you can figure out who Catalina is without our help.

La Princesa Dormitory

Features (4) beds with (4) lockers - for women only

The La Princesas sleepings quarters is a female-only space featuring beds for up to 4 travelers. Each traveler will also be assigned a secure locker to store their belongings.

Bonus Facts: A room built for traveling queens (aka every lady who steps inside) this space pays homage to Paseo La Princesa. This bayside walkway runs along the outer edge of the island that lines the bay of San Juan. Just a couple of blocks from Fortel, travelers can take a 5-minute walk to this beautiful path and enjoy the views at any time of day. (We don't have any jokes for this one, it's a lovely walk you should check it out).

Kitchen

Remodeled, fully-stocked kitchen with modern appliances. Travelers will be served continental breakfast every morning in the communal dining table, and are encouraged to use all the kitchen appliances to prep their own meals.

Lounge Area

Yes, it's a "common area," but "lounge" sounds way better. This is the spot where you come to meet some fellow travelers, relax before going out, or unwind at the end of a long night. Stream something on the TV, or play some board games. The choice is yours (and the couch is comfy af).

Bathroom

Travelers will have access to 4, full, single gender-neutral bathrooms. So before you go asking all those questions, yes, they're clean, and yes, there's hot water.
